Disclaimer

These Model Sexual Assault Code provisions were drafted primarily to address sexual violence committed against adult and adolescent victims. These provisions also cover sexual abuse involving animals. Some provisions may also apply to younger children; however, because child victims were not the focus of this project, prosecutors should review the Model Code carefully to ensure that protections for child victims are not diminished. Nothing in this Model Sexual Assault Code, including the absence of provisions specifically addressing child sexual abuse or exploitation, should be interpreted to conflict with existing laws protecting child victims.
